The protein produced by the gene of GFP emits a green fluorescence under blue irradiation. In the field of cell biology and molecular biology, GFP genes are often used as reporting genes. Some modified forms can be used as biological probes, and GFP genes can also be cloned into vertebrates. Since GFP cells emit fluorescence autonomously no need any exogenous substrate reaction, the GFP is widely used as intravital report protein. Its function is unmatched by any other enzyme report protein.
